The primary interest of this practice is in taking a holistic approach to helping people who are dealing with pain and stress related illness.
For detailed information about our clinic, practitioners, therapies and other activities please navigate using the links in the title frame above.
The major medical insurance companies recognise us as specialists, so patients can be referred directly from general practitioners.
We are a group of practitioners who work for positive health and healing. We offer
natural, holistic treatments plus information and advice, classes and talks on health matters.
Our approach is:
-
as
natural
as possible: such methods and remedies reinforce the body's own healing
resources where other methods override the body's proper functions
-
holistic
: we treat each person as a whole individual, not just a set of symptoms or
problems, and aim to restore balance between the different parts of the whole
-
complementary
to each other and to orthodox medicine: practitioners will recommend another
therapist if the two therapies will work well together
-
alternative
to orthodox medicine: where drugs or surgery are unacceptable or have failed,
we can offer alternative treatments.
The therapies we practise are based on the following principles:
The principles of holistic medicine
-
Health is not just an absence of illness, but the positive balance of all
aspects of a person - body, mind, emotions and spirit. Accident, injury or
stress (physical or emotional) can throw this balance out and lead to
uncomfortable symptoms or disease. Often, symptoms can be recognised as a
message that something is not right in one's life.
-
We recognise the body's own ability to heal and re-balance itself, and our
treatments are designed to stimulate and support this function and thus
strengthen it for the future.
-
Holistic treatments focus not on the symptom or disease but the individual,
his/her unique way of life and response to their condition.
-
There is no danger of dependency on our treatments: our intention is to give
back control to the client or patient, and offer the information or teach the
skills necessary for you to maintain your health in the future.
-
Everyone has creative ways of dealing with the stresses of their life. We seek
to help clients use that creativity in a positive way to recreate situations as
they would want.
These principles are in contrast to some orthodox medical
treatments, which often attempt to bypass the body's own self-healing systems
or replace its natural substances with synthetic chemicals which can produce
damaging side-effects and weaken the body in the long run.
Increasingly, however, GPs are recognising the effectiveness and benefits of
complementary therapies and beginning to incorporate them into their practices.
